Just a little emo quote

Wow! It has been a very looooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggg  time since I'd been here.  I can see cobwebs and spiders in my dashboard..hoho.  Finally, I had time to update my blog a little.  This is just some random quote I had composed after looking through my old photo albums. I'm not having any PMS okay? haha...just feeling emo, that's all.

"One of the disadvantages of having a photograph is the recollection of painful memories. People and Pets who came and gone out of your life. Wishing you'd spent more quality time with those who died.  Wishing things hadn't gotten wrong with those who became your foe. It makes you realize that the world is not sunshine and rainbows."

-Sakura135-

Next time, I'll update a little longer than this. Thanks for reading this. (If there's someone who just wasted their time reading my blog..hoho)

Sambo Kojin: Gluttony at its finest

Sambo Kojin EDSA: Grill all you can, Eat all you can
Amidst all the diets & healthy living, there are times when you have to indulge yourself to gluttony.  On a special occasion like birthday, it's understandable to fill your heart's stomach's content on extravagant foodies such as "eat-all-you-can" restaurants.  I found a place where you can satisfy your gluttony without sacrificing your wallet.

Sambo Kojin.  Situated along the long highway of EDSA, in between Ortigas & Santolan MRT station.  I decided to celebrate my birthday there together with my fiance.  We arrived at around 4:30pm.  Since it's too early, we are the first customers to arrive. But we are 7th or 8th customer in the reservation list.  From 4:30-5:30pm, their phone is already working overtime from non-stop reservations.  Whew, good thing we arrive early!

At around 5:40pm, they let us in.  I'm the first customer who entered the restaurant. Yay..lol.

So, first I'll give you a little tour inside the resto. Here's what you will see when you first enter the room. (R-L) Right: A wide array of fresh & flavored seafoods & meats inside the freezers to maintain the quality of foods. This is better than other eat-all-you can restaurants where food are on the containers or plates. Left: Soup and cooked asian dishes section. A little farther on the left are korean stuffs like kimchi (sorry, I forgot the other food's names)

Where food are located. The restaurant is clean and has good ambiance.

When we arrived at our table, here's what you'll see. (picture on the right) Different sauces & spices for the grilling part. Soon after we were seated, a waiter gave us appetizers? (picture on the left) I only ate the anchovies.

Appetizers and Yakiniku sauces

Then soon after we ordered our drinks, the waiter offered the Kamameshi rice.  We ordered but regretted it later since it's so heavy in the stomach.

Kamameshi rice. A japanese fried rice with so many stuffs included.

And so, without further ado, my bf and I went to fill our plates. Our first batch are the different types of sushi and our fave salmon sashimi.

Tasty sushi and sashimi

Second batch are the stuffs-to-be-grilled.  I so loved the wrapped bacon with cheesy stuff inside.  I shall not post the other grill batch. It's quite shameful to show our gluttony. hohoho~

Seafood and meat Yakiniku
Anyway, here's our other stuffs.  These are Korean foods.

Korean delicacies

Last batch, the sweet deserts. I love the ice cream and mini cheese cake period. Haha.

Desserts. I only liked the ice cream and mini cheese cake

Verdict: 100% Passed. Highly recommended. It was such a gluttony experience! We will definitely come back again. The ambiance, food & service are worth even more than what you've paid for.

Too busy and lazy to update

Sorry peeps. This blog is so outdated. I really haven't enough time to post anything.  I had so much to blog but words just can't compose themselves in my mind.  But when I had time, it's either I had something else to do or I'm too lazy to think & write.  Or maybe I just keep thinking that whatever I write, whether it may be interesting or not, there will only a few or none at all readers on my blog.  Poor me. *sob* So maybe I'm just not inspired at all. A writer without a reader is so uninspiring, right?

Should I switch to tumbler or wordpress? hmm......

Typhoon Sendong: Donate and Help Save Lives

As I was searching the net on where and how to donate to Typhoon Sendong victims in Iligan, Cagayan De Oro; I saw a blog having the most complete database of different institutions, organizations & establishments with whom you can give your donation to.  I'll just re-blog it here. It's good to spread the word for us to spread our blessings. It might be more than a week after this tragedy but it's not too late to help these victims, people who celebrate their Christmas in a very sad way.

***INFORMATION ON BREASTMILK DONATIONS***

Under the Milk Code, government agencies cannot accept infant formula donations – from milk companies or individuals.
Infants in evacuation centers in areas hit by Sendong need breastmilk. If you’re in Metro Manila, here are some places you can donate breastmilk (info from Daphne Osena-Paez’s Twitter feed):

Freshly expressed breastmilk can last 3-4 months freezer. UP PGH Human Milk bank has a pasteurization machine so the milk can last longer. Breastmilk will be transported by UNICEF and its partners.
For tips on storing and transporting breastmilk safely, check out bit.ly/tg89We (via askdrsears.com)

Tokyo Cafe, SM Mall Of Asia

As I was browsing through my files, I saw my compilation of food resto pics that I was supposed to blog months ago. But because of our series of events and my laziness, I wasn't able to do so. "Better late than never" as what they say, so here I am, blogging it. First stop is Tokyo Cafe.

The pics are still on their raw form, so I could tell the date I took them. This was taken on February 2011.

So, basically we search the mall to try a new restaurant with a mango crepe, because my bf wanted it but didn't like to eat at our usual French Baker.  When we entered the South wing entrance of SM Mall of Asia main building, I saw Tokyo Cafe. Quite intrigue with the plastic version of their dishes by the window.  We checked their menu at the entrance for a mango crepe.  Good thing they had. We waited a little because they are full. After a while, the waitress ushered us to our table. Though, there are lots of people at that time, the ambiance of the restaurant is still quite cozy.

At first, I had the impression that they offer only Japanese cuisine. A modern Japanese cuisine to be exact, because of the name "Tokyo Cafe".  When I scanned through their menu, they have a fusion of American and Japanese cuisine. Check it at their site: http://tokyocafe.com.ph/ .

Our orders for our afternoon snack:

Creamy Ebiko pasta Php258
Garlic and Shrimp pasta Php245

Manila Mango Php115

We both love pasta. Mine is Creamy Ebiko pasta. I love the creaminess of it. At a closer range, you could see the karashi ebiko (shrimp eggs) in the cream sauce. The luscious softness of the ebiko (shrimp) is perfect. This dish is like the fusion of carbonara & Pizza Hut's seafood supreme pasta.

I tasted about 1-2 forkful of my bf's Garlic and Shrimp pasta.  My excuse: "I couldn't give a review of the dish without tasting it." ~hohohoho.  Anyway, this kind of pasta is more of the "pancit" type. Why? Because it's not saucy but very tasty.  Plus, I think it was cooked in olive oil. The shrimp is same with my dish. Delectable. I could also taste the herbs and spices.

I'm not a fan of cold crepes (I'm more of the hot types ^o^).  But I still eat it once in a while.  Again, I took 2-3 spoonful of this dessert, for the same reason a while ago. He he. I think I prefer French Baker's version.  As you can see, it consist of mango slices, mango ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and crepe.  Nothing much to say but sweet.  I would have liked it, if they use vanilla ice cream instead of mango flavor.
If only we didn't had a heavy lunch then I would have ordered another dish or so.  I would like to try their smoogees next time.

NBI Clearance at Robinsons Otis

It was not planned but when we passed by the UN Ave in Manila yesterday, I decided to renew my NBI Clearance at Robinsons Otis. I heard it's easier to get the NBI clearance there compared to the main office & other satellite offices. It's no wonder since the mall is kind of small and secluded. I only saw a few number of people inside the mall. I arrived at 1:10pm.

As a first timer of this mall, I didn't had a hard time finding the NBI clearance processing center.  It is located on the level 2, end of the hallway, passing through Handy Man & CD R King.

There isn't a line when I arrived, people are seating on the waiting area. I approached the friendly guard to ask where should I start and if it's ok that I didn't brought my old NBI clearance. He hand over the application form and told me that all I need is a valid I.D. He also explained the procedures:

Step 1: Payment
I paid Php115. 100 for the Local employment fee and 15 for the documentary stamp. The payment window is on the right side.  I was already seated, waiting for my turn in encoding when I took that photo.  By the way, I wanted to check how long it will take me for this clearance. I started around 1:30pm. Logged it on my mobile. *snicker*

Step 2: Encoding
Only a row before my turn. Hmm..that's fast. I didn't even had a chance to play Angry Birds at my mobile phone.

Step 3: Digital Fingerprinting & Photo taking
This is when I got to wait longer than during the step 2. When I reached this point, there are no more lines in the payment window and people on the encoding waiting area only occupied 2 rows. This made me wished I should have arrived later. ~hohoho. Oooh, we're really into digital age. It was kind of fun doing the digital fingerprinting. Unlike before, where I had to wash my hands a couple of times to remove ink marks on my fingers. Eeew.

Step 4: Wait for your clearance at the separate waiting area

This is it. The final step. Some people left as soon as they finished the latter step.  I guess they live or work nearby so they'll just return again to claim their clearance. What the heck, it only took me a couple of minutes before I heard my name being called. Viola! I got my NBI clearance. As soon as I get a hold of the paper, I listed down the time. It's 2:51pm. It took me 1 hr and 21 minutes. Not bad.

For those interested, here's the address:

NBI Clearance center-Robinson's Place Otis
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (Saturday is for releasing only)
2nd level Robinson's Place Otis
1536 Paz Mendoza Guanzon st., Paco Manila

If you're commuting, whether you're from North or South, ride LRT-1 then drop off on "United Nations Avenue" station. Ride a tricycle, ask the driver to take you to Robinson's Otis. You'll pass by Manila Police District-Petron-Unilever-NFA-Honda-Isuzu. I included a map here, so just check it out.

Anyway, after acquiring the clearance, we had a late lunch at Tokyo tokyo:

Modern Wushu for modern times

First and foremost, before criticizing negatively the art of wushu,  one must study its history way back during China's dynasties up to why modern wushu was made.

Modern wushu received lots of negative criticism from people who viewed it as just a flashy gymnastic performances.  Well, modern wushu was created primarily as sports.   Its movements differ from most traditional wushu styles because just as I've said, it is for sports, for competitions.  Its movement and timing satisfies the criteria needed to get a score from the judges.  If you don't want to join the competitions and you just want to use wushu for self defense, then go for Traditional wushu.

In old China dynasties, people have to defend themselves during war (Imperial guards, civil war, etc), that's why most chinese learn tradtional wushu as a necessity for their everyday lives.  Nowadays, in our modern times, not all people have to defend themselves in an everyday basis.  It's like a pager turned into a mobile phone.  Modern people want everything fast and quick results, not all of them have the dedication needed for traditional wushu.  Traditional wushu, to make it perfect, needs a lot of time of practicing.  But, not all people have that amount of time.  That's where modern wushu fit in.

I beg to disagree to people saying it can't be use in a fight or as self defense. Forms, whether it's a traditional or modern, has nothing to do with your skill in fighting.  It's in the way you power train.  Plus, you should know how to apply every single part of your form.  For example, a simple leg sweep movement, which both modern and traditional forms have, even though you know how to do it, if you didn't train your leg to be strong, it will be useless in a fight.

We, in our organization, we learn both modern and traditional wushu.  We combine modern wushu forms with traditional training.  Modern wushu forms for competitions since we also wanted our students to experience joining in National Wushu Championships. Though modern wushu form may look choreographed and flashy; but since we power train them in a traditional way and we taught them the application, their punches and kicks in a fight will still be deadly.

First haul of Cyleina soaps

I'm a member of candymag, female network & cosmo forum. As I was browsing through these female magazine forums, I saw several thread topics about Cyleina soaps. Most of the girls would testify that this brand is so good & effective. Not to mention the affordability of these products. That's only an icing to the cake. People nowadays are so health concious, they wanted naturally made or the so-called Organics. Not only in food but also in beauty products. Since soap is the number 1 tool in our daily beauty regimen, organic soaps boosts its popularity in the market today.

Back to the picture above. I mentioned a while ago that I saw this organic soap brand in a forum. The name is Cyleina organic soap, produced and distributed locally. See their profile here: http://cyleina.multiply.com/

From the same thread in the forum, I met a Cyleina reseller near our location. She's Ronela Carbo, here's her multiply account: http://ellacarbo.multiply.com/. Most reseller do meetups. Considering that the soaps' price are cheap, they required a minimum number of orders or a handling fee to make up for their transpo during meetups.  Ella, short for Ronela, entail a minimum of 4 soaps for a meetup in SM Bacoor. We ordered 5 soaps. hehe. If not too much, I'll order all kinds of Cyleina soaps. They have a wide array of soap variants. It's so interesting to try  each of them. Anyway, my bf and I ordered 2 Tomato soap, 2 Black pearl soap & 1 Glutathione soap for myself (harhar).

Here's the uses/description of the soaps we've ordered and our review after using it:

1. Tomato bar-
*Description: Tomatoes have high vitamin content and are a rich source of the antioxidant nutrient, lycopene. This is the red pigment contained in tomatoes. Lycopene counter the ageing effects on the skin, by cutting out the number of free radicals in your body.

Capture the health benefits of tomato to your skin by using CYLEINA ORGANIC TOMATO SOAP! Made from red and ripe organically grown tomatoes, CYLEINA ORGANIC TOMATO SOAP counters oily skin by absorbing surplus oil. The tonic benefits of tomato deeply cleanses and tightens the pores. Alpha-Hydroxy Acids found in tomato helps get rid of pimples and acne through its gentle exfoliating action and this also results to getting your cheeks a rosy hue and your body a fair glow!

BEST FOR: Oily skin with large pores.

*Review: People from the forum stated that after using it a few times, they saw changes on their face. Tomato bar, by the way, are best use for the face. Some of them claimed that they had rosy cheeks. Some even said that they felt a stingy effect on their faces after early usage. As for myself, I didn't felt any stingy effect on my face. As of this moment, I didn't notice any rosy cheeks or whitening color on my face...yet. But what I noticed is that  after using the soap, the oil build-up on my face lessen.

2. Black Pearl soap-

*Description:
This is their best seller soap.
Uses:
  • Whitens skin tone instantly!
  • Lightens dark spots and pimple scars
  • Effective in lightening dark underarms and inner thighs caused by imbalanced hormones, chemical burns from deodorants.
  • anti-wrinkle&best skin moisturizer
  • safe and will not sting!
*Review:  I think it's too early to tell any difference. Some said you can see the result after continuous usage. This soap has a menthol kind of effect on the skin while using it. It smells nice too.

3.Glutamaxxx Glutathione soap-

*Description: As we all know, a glutathione soap is popular for skin whitening. This soap is plain white & mildly scented.
*Review: I just recently used this, so I can't tell if it's effective or not. Maybe after a month or so, I could follow up this review.

Long time Cyleina users combine 2 or 3 soap variants every use. Popular combinations includes: BP+Gluta  / BP+PGM / BP+Kojic / Tomato+BP or PGM or Gluta. Personally, I uses Tomato alone for my face then BP+Gluta for the body. These combinations may have different effects depending on the skin of the user.

That's all for now.

TCGB!
